Update: Government Support
The government has made a series of announcements about energy bill payments that will impact our customers.
UKIFDA Comment:
“The government has announced that for those customers on heating oil that did not receive the £200 alternative fuel payment (AFP) directly via their electricity account, an online government portal will be up and running by March 6th for customers to apply for their payment. The government will provide further information soon.”
Government Announcements:
Customers who have yet to receive the Alternative Fuel Payment (£200):
The government announced earlier this month that most customers who use heating oil would receive their alternative fuel payment of £200 through their electricity account. These payments started on February 6th.
The government stated at the time that there would be some customers that would not receive the £200 automatically (those that did not have an electricity account and those that lived in areas where oil heating penetration is very low) and these customers would have to apply online.
They have announced that the online portal will open on or before March 6th and there will be further information shortly.
Northern Ireland:
These two payments are being paid together and to all customers in Northern Ireland regardless of their heating source. Separate arrangements apply.

We continue to advise customers to purchase their heating oil as usual ahead of the cold weather.
